Scioto Residential Services (SRS) is a private, non-profit corporation that provides quality community supports to individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities.


In the early 1970s a group of people saw the need within our community to establish residential services to assist individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities. Over 40 years ago, Scioto Residential Services opened its first home. Today, we have expanded our services to include 14 homes located in residential communities throughout Scioto County, and day services provided at OUR Place in Rosemount.

SRS provides quality supports in a variety of settings. Our services are typically paid for by Medicaid, through the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver. Eligibility is determined by the Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities



residential services


SRS is certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (ODODD) as a provider of residential services. We operate 14 homes licensed by ODODD in Portsmouth and the surrounding area. We work with individuals, their families, guardians, and the SCBDD. Care plans focus on what is important to the individuals as well as what the individuals need.



Adult Day Services


SRS is also certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (ODODD) as a provider of Adult Day Services (ADS). OUR Place (Opportunities, Understanding, Respect) in Rosemount serves as a hub to facilitate access to the greater community. These supports are provided 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday-Friday.

SRS practices the philosophy of Gentle Teaching. Individuals and employees are "family." Members of our family nurture one another to develop mutual feelings of being safe and loved with one another while engaging in life at home and in the community.



Charitable Contributions

SRS is a section 501(c)(3) non-profit as defined by the IRS. Our current campaign "Going Places Fundraiser" has a target goal of $30,000 to go towards the purchase of two vehicles in 2019.
